COVID 19 Update July 29th

Finally we are able confirm all domestic competitions will return this Saturday. These fixtures are available via Play HQ and will be updated on Teammo shortly.

Part of the delay in confirmation was the changing information being provided from Basketball Victoria and Sport and Recreation Victoria. It is now clear that only 100 patrons are allowed within an indoor ‘space’ at any one time. An indoor space is defined by Basketball Victoria as “an area, room or premises that is or are substantially enclosed by a roof and walls that are temporary (in a physical recreational facility or food and drink facility only) or permanent structures rising either from floor to ceiling or are at least 2.1 metres high, regardless of whether the roof or walls or any part of them are open or closed”

Because of this ruling, the different venues we use for competitions are impacted differently depending on the amount of courts used. Please familiarise yourself with the restrictions enforced at each venue below:

Please note that all associations are in different situations based on their court lay out and stadium structure. This means some associations are able to return in close to full capacity whilst others with a similar layout to the Somerville Recreation Centre are impacted greatly. We appreciate your patience and understanding greatly in these difficult situations.

Somerville Recreation Centre (All Competitions)

  • Games will be played on 45 min time slots (50 min for Saturday Competitions)
  • Players must leave the court area immediately after their game finishes.
  • Players waiting to play their next game will be held in the cafe/ foyer area until all players from the pervious time slot leave the venue.
  • Players should arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before your game.
  • Strictly No Spectators or Parents/Guardians are allowed within the Somerville Recreation Centre. (3 support staff) Only Coach, Team manager & scorer are permitted to attend with their team.
  • Entry will not be permitted to venues unless sign in is done via the QR code system. Random spot checks will occur also.
  • Masks continue to be mandatory for those who are 12 and over inside unless actively playing, coaching or officiating.

Civic Recreation Reserve, Western Port Secondary College & Somerville Secondary College

  • Games will be played on 45 min time slots (50 min for Saturday Competitions)
  • Players must leave the court area immediately after their game finishes.
  • Players should arrive no earlier than 10 minutes before their game.
  • Each child is limited to one parent, guardian or carer only.
  • Siblings are not permitted as spectators and must not be brought to games.
  • 1 x Coach, Team Manager & Scorer may attend and are not counted as spectators
  • Entry will not be permitted to venues unless sign in is done via the QR code system. Random spot checks will occur also.
  • Masks continue to be mandatory for those who are 12 and over inside unless actively playing, coaching or officiating.

We understand that the impact of these restrictions may cause logistical issues for your team.

If you cannot play or need support in any way please do not hesitate to contact me on 0451 051 998 or ring the office on 5977 7533.
