The Management of WPBA would like to thank Sinisa Markovic for his efforts and hard work over the last 2 seasons working with our teams and coaches as the DOC.
With our constantly changing environment and circumstances and the stop start nature of basketball during the last two seasons, the General Committee has made the decision to restrategise our basketball program. This is both a business decision to ensure the ongoing commercial viability of WPBA in this strenuous environment we all live in during the pandemic and constant lock-downs and also a basketball decision, as we see the new strategy as a unique way forwards that is the best fit for our program.
Following speaking with Sinisa hopes he has left some positive impression with all our players and coaches and understands the uncertainty of which the future holds. He thanks all of coaches for your time and effect as well the Junior Rep Committee for their support.
Effective immediately, our basketball program shall be now managed and directed by a Head Of Coaching Committee (HOCC). The HOCC will have oversight to supporting Coaches as they develop their players specific to their age group and journey through the player development pathway.
Please join us in welcoming our HOCC who will be responsible for the direction of the program, selection of coaches and mentors across all age groups.
The new HOCC members are:
Jalen Hema and Ned Weideman – U12 and U14 Coaches Coordinators – Boys and Girls (Foundation)
Janine Davies – Coaches Coordinator – Janine will be working across all age groups offering advice and mentoring coaches though the whole program but focussing on the pathway for girls moving through the U16 – U21s program and in preparation for YLW and Big V levels
Warren Heigh – U16 – U21 Coaches Coordinator – Girls (Proficient – Advanced levels)
Joel Williams – U16 – U21 Coaches Coordinator – Boys (Proficient – Advanced levels)
This is exciting news and a unique way forwards, as we spread the work-load to build and improve across more resources to improve our program, coaches and teams. Please join us in congratulating and welcoming our new HOCC!!
