See below programs for further information.
All Abilities
Playing basketball gives people with disabilities an opportunity to develop greater confidence, strength and skills, make new friends and learn about teamwork. The emphasis is on creating a supportive, social, inclusive and fun environment.
Program runs Thursday evenings from 5pm to 6.30pm
Wheelchair Basketball
Wheelchair basketball is an inclusive sport that is available for people who use a wheelchair and for people who don’t use a wheelchair. Western Port ran a pilot program with Somerville Secondary School that was hugely successful. The students learned some of the challenges involved in wheelchair basketball but also had lots of fun.
Western Port Basketball Association offer the wheelchair basketball program to schools and organizations that have participants who want to learn how to play.
Western Port Basketball Association supply the wheelchairs and a qualified wheelchair basketball coach.

Walking Basketball
Walking Basketball is a low impact, social and fun way to improve the levels of physical activity for inactive and slightly active Victorians including those recovering from injury. It is also a great way to socialize as the program includes Tea and Coffee afterwards.
Term 3 Walking basketball will be at Somerville Recreation Centre for a 6-week program.
