Western Port Basketball Association

Facilities & Infrastructure Working Group

Facilities and Infrastructure are key strategic priorities for the Western Port Basketball Association.  We are seeing an unprecedented demand for services and access to programs and competitions from all corners of the community, while struggling to meet current needs in existing facilities.

There has been much coverage in recent times of the lack of indoor facilities needed and the expensive costs associated with hiring existing facilities, just to meet the current demands of Basketball from the community. We are no different to the trends and experiences of Associations all over Australia.

We currently have over 180 players on waiting lists, looking for teams to join and have over 30 teams on waiting lists for the up-and-coming Summer Season, with the list growing on a daily basis.

Our participation programs are also impacted by court space meaning we are unable to meet the demands and flexibility needed for the introduction to basketball programs for players wanting to experience basketball for the first time.

To help us plan and shape the future of the Association, we are looking for interested members of our community to join our newly formed Facilities and Infrastructure Working Group.

We are particularly interested in hearing from people who have experience and skills in the following areas:

  • Project Management
  • Financial Management
  • Government Relations and Services
  • Infrastructure Design
  • Building and Construction

If you are interested in joining this exciting working group, please contact:
