Are you an experienced coach who wants to help develop the next generation of basketball players – then we want to hear from you! Westernport Basketball Association (WPBA) is now accepting coaching Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for the upcoming VJBL 2023/2034 season.

Please note the following:
Coaches who apply for 1st teams could be requested to interview for the position. Details will be sent to those applicants who are required to interview with the HOCC. 1st team coaches may also be appointed before the tryouts.
Coaches with no children in the WPBA representative program looking to develop their coaching skills and experience in representative basketball are strongly encouraged to apply.
Other coaching positions may be appointed after tryouts based on experience and qualifications.
Parent coaches will be assigned to whichever team their child gets selected in if they wish to work with the same team their child is chosen to.
- All coaches MUST hold a National Accreditation Scheme coach’s course before or during the VJBL season (or be prepared to obtain one).
- Adhere to the Basketball Victoria Coaches Code of Conduct.
- Complete a Working with Children (WWC) Form and a VJBL Statutory Declaration Form
- Assist at the WPBA representative tryouts in various age groups and work with fellow coaches in selecting the final teams.
- Attend upcoming domestic games and finals to encourage identified players to come and try out.
- Must attend ALL Coaches’ Meetings and Development opportunities as requested by the WPBA.
- Must meet all the standards and expectations of the WPBA and follow instructions and direction.
